Scott Baranoff – Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
Great Prostate Cancer Challenge 2008
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
For over twenty years the American Urological Association (AUA) Foundation has supported and promoted research, patient and public education and advocacy to improve prevention, detection, treatment and ultimately cure urological diseases. The AUA Foundation funds prostate cancer research, screenings and awareness programs in local communities.
Sadly, approximately 218,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year, one new case every 2.5 minutes; and more than 27,000 will die from the disease.
Based on the overwhelming success of the 2007 inaugural event, the 5K Run/1 Mile Walk to benefit prostate cancer research is back. Last year the event had over 1,200 participants and raised over $125,000.
